HTMA Midwest August 18th Association Meeting @ Zarda BBQ in Lenexa - update

It begin with a brief overview of 626, including who they are, their nationwide service organization, and their focus on supporting diagnostic imaging equipment across all major OEMs and every modality. Since many of the attendees will be general Biomedical Equipment Technicians, they'll then spend a few minutes discussing how someone with a biomedical background can transition into diagnostic imaging equipment service.  From there, they'll transition into a technical presentation using contrast injector systems as a practical example. The presentation will focus on how proper first-look troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and technician education can improve equipment reliability while reducing downtime.

Injector Presentation Topics

• First Look Inspections – The importance of performing a thorough first look, including cable connections, cable condition, power supplies, and other high-risk failure points.
• Documenting Error Codes & System Messages – How capturing error codes and messages can improve diagnostics and accelerate National Support Services (NSS) technical support.
• Common Failure Trends – Recognizing recurring issues such as fluid residue on sensors, worn cables, and other identifiable failed components.
• End-User Education – Proper operation, handling, and cleaning practices that help extend equipment life and improve reliability.
• Current Training Opportunities – Training currently available for Medrad injector platforms, including Stellant Classic, Stellant Certegra, Stellant Flex, Mark 7 Arterion, Mark V ProVis, and Spectris Solaris.
• Upcoming Training Expansion – Future training offerings for Bracco/ACIST, Liebel-Flarsheim (LF)/Mallinckrodt, and Guerbet injector systems.
• In-House Preventive Maintenance – How organizations can perform appropriate PM activities internally while reducing service costs.
• Building Confidence with Equipment – Giving Biomedical Equipment Technicians the knowledge and confidence to safely perform first-look troubleshooting and recognize when escalation is appropriate.

The goal is to provide attendees with information they can immediately apply while also giving biomeds a better understanding of what a career in diagnostic imaging service looks like and how they can begin developing those skills.
